Hey there guys DJ Dizzy here, & I'm doing a music revew of Revernd Genes' song You & I.
The Band,
Reverend Genes is a band hailing out of Newcastle Austrailia who are heavily influenced by Austraiian/UK pub music & US new wave & they recently formed in 2019.
The Song,
The song has a sort of folk like type feel to it & they also include a mixture of electric guitars amongst other instruments in which they heavily incorporate into their music & the message speaks of making changes & also knowing yourself which is what its all about & it really hits home with the lyrics & the vocal style is on point with the lead singer's sound is very unique & heavily draws from the pub sound but they also incorporate other genres into their song & I got a folk vibe from it which is what it drew & many places travelled which really goes well with the story the song is tellfrom. The music video showcases the many different locales one of them being on the open road & the places traveled which really fits well with the song.
The overall message of the song is asking if we know ourselves & if we can grow from our experiences in life & that's something that we tend to ask ourselves either everynow & then as time goes by but this is a real song that speaks on self discovery & personal growth & I really sensed all of that when I listened to it.
The lead singer does an excellent job in telling a story of personal experiences & how he uses them to help grow & also letting other know that they can do the same which is very encouraging & something that we all need to do from time to time.
In conclusion,
You & I has a great feel to it & really emphasisez self discovery & perosnal growth through some good lyrics & storytelling & it'll really get you reflecting on some experiences that have happened in your life so this is something I highly recommend if you're looking to unwind or just to take the time to reflect on hat's to come.
