DJ Interviews: Noise from Nashville

Here's my interview with the band, Noise from Nashville

How'd you get started in music?

As the guitarist and singer, I got started playing music when I was about 13.
I started playing on this old acoustic guitar that I had for about a year at that point but never took it seriously until I heard Nirvana on the radio. After that, I started going to my local CD store and buying up the music I wanted to play.
I had one or two lessons on guitar so I could figure out how to form the chords I was hearing since I couldn't read music, there was a lack of tablature at the time and the internet was just really beginning to kick off.

Who are your inspirations or influences?

There are so many influences but skipping the obvious, I'd go with DEVO, Drive Like Jehu, Ramones, Sisters of Mercy, Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, Fang, Killing Joke and as for inspiration, probably Michael Jackson for his always on top performances, Jonathan Davis for his emotional vulnerability and Kurt Cobain for his reckless abandon.

What advice would you offer aspiring performers?

Hard to say what advice I would give. Maybe just know your stuff, don't be a dick and get off stage faster than you get on.

How do you set yourselves apart from other bands or singers?
I don't really think about it much. I think we just focus on bringing the particular vibes we have and we really emphasize a raw kind of energy that can be both fun but kind of dark.

Any new gigs or albums in the future?

We just released our first full length June 2nd of this year and we have plans to promote it throughout the next half of the year starting in July with Gunk Fest, an all day fest at a punk house we have played before and a follow up at Cobra in Nashville.
