DJ Interviews: Rick & Sara Blasi

Hey there DJ Dizzy here & this  is my interview with Rick & Sara Blasi

Here are the questions

How'd you get started in music?

Sarah and I both come from families with musical legacies. Sarah’s parents were professional musicians, and her brother is a symphonic composer. My family was involved with big band, R&B and Broadway music. We were taught about music very early in our lives, started to perform at the age of four, and were expected to perform regularly in varied musical genres.

Who are your inspirations or influences?
We admire song-writers who are able to tell interesting stories and who incorporate different musical styles while making something that is uniquely their own. We admire song writers from various generations, and enjoy the songs for example, of Sting, Elton John and Prince, and more recently Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, and  Ed Sheeran.

What advice would you offer aspiring performers?
We think aspiring performers should think of their art as a journey, not a destination,  and take pleasure in the experiences along the way. There are so many things to learn about performing, recording, and distributing music. The tools for learning and doing all these things have never been better. These take an investment of time, intellect and energy. The improvements in music quality, performance capabilities, and audience reach and satisfaction, are the rewards of the journey.

How do you set yourselves apart from other bands or singers?
While we listen to a great deal of music, we try not to emulate other artists, but rather, to create music and lyrics that are our own. We leverage rock, R&B,funk, world, jazz and other styles along with Sarah’s ability to tell stories and her vocals to create songs that are musically interesting and entertaining.

Any new gigs or albums in the future
We tend to finish a new song every week or so. Right now we have a number of songs in process and expect to release another album quite soon. In the meantime, we will be releasing some of our singles in advance of the complete album, and enjoy bringing our listeners along for the ride as we develop new ideas.
