DJ Interviews: Regilio Gil Rillen

Here's my interview with Regilio Rillen A.K.A. Gil who sat down with me to discuss his start in the music scene.

REGILIO RILLEN | Walboomers Music

Regilio Rillen a.k.a Gili, was born in Suriname and moved to the Netherlands at the age of 4 together with his parents and his 5 siblings. He has been active in the music industry for over 30 years as a performing artist (piano/keyboard) and have played in various Caribbean music formations in the Netherlands. His music career started after he realized his sensitive nature , and started to accept himself and his emotions more and more. Now he is known to use these built-up emotions to empower himself in his music. As he grows older he feels consumed by music, and making new music has become an addiction for him. Even though he has no backgrounds in classical music, his compositions recently are becoming closer to that genre. He gets his music and visions often during his sleep. He receives emotions, visions, and images from past lives and different entities, and uses this as a source of inspiration for his music.

* Any new gigs or albums in the future?

I’ve more than 200 songs to release!

* What advice would you offer aspiring performers?

I think the main thing is to be true to who you are, what makes you unique and you. Don't try to be someone else. You can never go wrong if you be true to yourself.

* How do you set yourselves apart from other bands or singers?

The biggest thing that you, as an independent artist or musician, can do to for your own career is to find a way to set yourself apart from the pack. In a world of copycats and knock-offs, this may seem an impossible task. However, hundreds of thousands of artists have found ways to become innovators and leaders rather than imitators and followers. A very effective way that you can do that is to be the first at doing something that no one else has done yet.
