Stand & Shout: The Blind Dancer

Here's another story of mine that I hope you'll enjoy it's centered around a girl who goes by Oyster who becomes a dancer to Trinity Blade despite being fully blind & in the end her dream comes true. Enjoy

The Blind Dancer

By Ivy Moon

Ramon voice-over: Have you ever told yourself that you were going to see a goal through no matter what? Well for our good friend Oyster she had one goal that she just had to meet. Luckily for her we made it happen.

(We now see a blind girl who has a fold up cane. She has aquamarine hair & she’s wearing a maroon tank top she’s also wearing black pants. This is Oyster Rains. She’s listening to Trinity Blade’s latest album.)

Oyster: I love this song & Well I’d better get ready to go.

(She heads out to only to see Ramon waiting for her. They escort one another.)

Ramon: So you have any plans later on?

Oyster: Not really just listening to music & playing video games mostly. You want to come?

Ramon: I’ll try but I got to meet up with my friends.

Oyster: Yeah I know that you’re busy. But do what you can.

Ramon: I’ll try.

Oyster: I wanted to ask you something.

Ramon: Shoot.

Oyster: Do you ever have dreams or a lifelong goal?

Ramon: Yeah. I dream of opening up for my favorite punk metal band the flaming crossbows. If I keep hammering away I just might someday. What are your dreams?

Oyster: I would like to be a dancer for my favorite band.

Ramon: Who would that be?

Oyster: Trinity Blade of course.

Ramon: Oh yeah?

Oyster: Yeah  have it all pictured.

(We now see her out in front of a gigantic audience as she cheers the band on. We see Ramon now as Sage grab her hand. )

Oyster: Sage Sparks taking my hand and asking me to dance onstage with him & the band. It’ll be a dream come true.

Ramon: That sounds like an awesome dream. You really think that’ll happen?

Oyster: I’m sure it will. Only problem is that I have no way of going to the concert. My parents have to work & my sister lives far out.

Ramon: Well you don’t have to worry I happen to know Sage Sparks.

Oyster: Really?! You’re for sure?

Ramon: Yeah he & I are good friends & I’ll make sure he makes your dream come true.

Oyster: That is too cool. Thank you so much.

Ramon: You’re welcome. We’d better get inside.

(As they head indoors Ramon races up to his locker to grab his supplies & his inhaler.)

Ramon (Thinking): I just hope the guys are okay with this.

(After class we see the band gathered for a meeting. As Sonia arrives we see her scrambling for a spot.)

Kari: What’s this about now?

J.D.: If I’m correct Ramon did say something about having a special guest for our concert tonight.

Kari: Where can he be anyway?

Hazel: He’s coming right now.

(Suddenly Ramon arrives though out of breath he regains his composer.)

Ramon: Sorry I’m late guys. Anyway I called you guys here.

Kari: What’s up?

Ramon: You know Oyster right?

Hazel: Yeah that blind girl from our art class of course.

J.D.: What about her?

Ramon: Well she wants to dance at one of Trinity Blade’s shows

Hazel: I don’t know

Kari: We already have things planned out besides I doubt she can keep up.

(Suddenly a voice is heard groaning as Oyster emerges)

Oyster: I guess that’s how it is.

Hazel: How long have you been there?

Oyster: Long enough to hear that you don’t want me to dance with you I’ve been dancing for a long time & just once it’d be nice to dance with you again.

(She runs off in a huff.)

Hazel: I didn’t know.

J.D.: You guys could’ve handled it differently she’s danced with us before so the least we can do is ask her to dance with us again, Ramon & I know her well & she’s been progressing a lot in both dance & music so I wouldn’t go judging people if I were you.

Hazel: You’re right I wasn’t really thinking.

Kari: I wish that here was something that we could do.

Ramon: Apologize.

Hazel: What? Now?

Kari: You started it so end it.& besides this your fault as it is mine so you can apologize for the both of us.

Hazel: Yeah you're right. I’ll go tell her right now.

(She races from the meeting room only to see a nearby bus drive the upset Oyster home.)

Hazel: Wait! Oh man I didn’t make it in time.

(She then heads back to the meeting room only to see Kari& J.D.)

Hazel: I didn’t make it in time to apologize.

Kari: I know for a fact Ramon rides her bus. Maybe he told her.

Hazel: Yeah you’re right.

(Meanwhile over the Blast house we hear Ramon talking to Oyster on his cell phone. She’s heard crying.)

Ramon: I’m sure Hazel didn’t mean anything by it.

Oyster: I don’t understand why she doesn’t like me.

Ramon: She likes you it’s just that she gets carried away from time to time. Everyone does. & besides the only thing you can do is prove people wrong. You’ve got talents that some of them don’t know you have. I’ll bet you might even surprise yourself.

Oyster: That almost sounds like something Sage Sparks would say.

Ramon: Maybe.

Oyster: Have you ever spoken with him? After all you are good friends with him.

Ramon: Trust me when I say I know him.

Oyster: That’s great. Um listen Ramon if its okay by you would you be my escort tomorrow night?

Ramon: Sure. I just have to run an errand & I’ll meet you at the concert. How does that sound?

Oyster: Sounds awesome.

Ramon: Okay see you tomorrow.

(He turns off his phone. Meanwhile Sonia heads up to his room She then sits beside him.)

Sonia: Hey you do remember that we have an appearance to make after the concert right?

Ramon: Yeah some talk show over in Lunar Bay right?

Sonia: Of course do you need me to pick up anything?

Ramon: Well you could call in a special order, chicken club sandwich with coleslaw & fries, & to drink fruit punch. Oh & one other thing.

Sonia: Yeah what is it.

Ramon: Can you pose as me?

Sonia: Let me guess you’ve got a friend to deal with right?

Ramon: Exactly.

Sonia: Okay here we go again.

(At the concert we see the band setting up meanwhile we see Oyster sitting in the audience.)

Oyster: I wonder where Ramon could be. He said he’d meet me here. Oh well he’s probably in the bathroom.

Ramon: Hey sorry I’m late.

Oyster: You made it.

Ramon: Heck yeah I’d never miss out on this.

Oyster: I really want the chance to meet Sage.

Ramon: I’ll go get him wait here.

(As Ramon leaves Oyster then feels her CD cover.)

Oyster (Thinking): I can’t wait.

(Suddenly music is heard playing the intro of the group. We now see a spotlight shining down as the crowd goes wild as Trinity Blade begins to perform their first set as Sage takes the stage.)

Sage: Thanks everyone. Before we begins I’d like to ask a special friend of mine to come up here & take the stage. She goes by the name Oyster & from what I’ve heard she’s a terrific dancer. So if you’re out there Oyster come on up.

(The spotlight shines in Oyster direction as Sonia dressed as Ramon leads her to the stage.)

Oyster: I’ve waited for so long to meet you.

Sage: How’d you get the name Oyster?

Oyster: In truth that’s just a nickname my real name is Morgan.

Sage: I see. Well enough of that let’s see you move.

Oyster: You got it.

Hazel: 1-2-3-4!

(A hard rock song is hear playing. As Oyster take her place alongside the band. Insert ‘Wonder Girl.’)

Sage (Singing): I’ve seen you around

Claiming you can talk the talk

But I got to know if you

Truly have guts.

I’ve seen charades before

All of them I ignore

I know that deep down you really know what’s what.

So quit the act show me your true self.

I want to know just what it is you’ve got

Kari: C’mon!

(Chorus)

Go! Go! wonder girl

I want to come into your world

Go! Go! Wonder girl

Go! Go! Wonder girl!

Nobody know you they way I do

I’ve seen what you’ve got inside

Don’t be scared to unleash what you’ve been hiding.

No matter what they say I’ve got your back

Show the world just what they don’t know.

(Chorus repeats)

(Guitar solo, Drum solo.)

All: C’mon!

(Chorus repeats twice.)

Go! Go! Wonder girl

Go! Go! Wonder girl!

Yeah!

(As Oyster does one last two step the crowd cheers wildly for both her & the band. Trinity Blade then waves out.)

Oyster: Thank you so much for letting me dance with you. I have a confession to make.

Sage: Yeah?

Oyster: I always wanted to sing this song that I wrote especially for you. So if it’s okay by you may I?

Sage: you certainly can.

(The crowd goes wild as Oyster reaches for the microphone.)

Oyster (Singing): Something you’ve done

Has really gotten me  inspired

To really get out.

Though sometimes I earn a lot of animosity

That make people want to shout.

In the end it’s all about me wanting to be

As good as you.

(Chorus)

You’re more than a muse to me.

All of these things you’ve done.

Helping me to be strong

I’ll keep you in my heart for this.

It’s something you’ve done.

(The crowd cheers her on as she hands the microphone back to Sage.)

Sage: That was beautiful. & you wrote that for me?

Oyster: Yeah I did. I wanted to let you know that you’re an inspiration to me.

Sage: That was great Morgan.

Oyster: I can’t believe you said my name.

Sage: And I’ll never forget it.

(The concert continues on as Oyster dances with the band to a few more songs. The next day we see Ramon now back to normal as well as the band & Oyster in class.)

Hazel: I hope that you can forgive me for what I said the other day I guess I forgotten how great of a dancer you are.

Oyster: It’s okay. I just hope to take the stage like that once again. By the way I never told you what happened Ramon. I got the chance to sing with Sage Sparks.

Ramon: Really you sang with him?

Oyster: Well actually I sang to him.

Ramon: Yeah I heard that you did an awesome job.

Oyster: By the way weren’t you around for the show?

Ramon: Oh I was but I had some business to take care of. I had to leave early. You know how it is.

Oyster: Oh I get it. You had a family emergency.

Ramon: Something like that yeah. But for now howabout we catch up on our studies.

Oyster: Oh sure.

(So with that Oyster & the band listen to the lecture of their teacher. Meanwhile in the Blast household Mirabelle gets a disturbing phone call from Dr. Parsons.)

Mirabelle: Oh no that’s awful.

(John arrives in the kitchen.)

John: Honey what’s wrong?

Mirabelle: Well Ramon’s condition is getting worse.

John: Oh no! This isn’t good.

Mirabelle: We have to tell him somehow.

John: I know honey we’ll think of something.

(After class Ramon & Sonia arrive from school.)

Ramon: Hey mom what’s going on?

Mirabelle: Well Ramon I’ve got some news for you.

Ramon: Yeah what is it?

John: You might want to sit down for this.

Ramon (Thinking): This can’t be good

(Ramon & Sonia look on as their parents approach him in shock.)
