DJ Interviews: David Sinclair Four

Hey guys, DJ Dizzy here & here's my interview with the band David Sinclair Four.

How'd you get started in music?

I got hold of my first acoustic guitar at the age of 9 and I put my first band together at the age of 13. We played school dances and promoted our own gigs at the scout hall. I wrote and recorded my first song when I was 16. It was called Panther Woman Blues.

Who are your inspirations or influences?

Inspirations: Mick Jagger, Seasick Steve, Billy Gibbons, Jimi Hendrix

Influences: The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Ray Davies, Ian Hunter

What advice would offer aspiring performers?

Keep going.

How do you set yourselves apart from other bands or singers?

We make better records than them. And I don’t sing in a fake American accent. We’re a guitar band from the south of England, so we’ve created a musical and performance narrative that is apropos. Our songs are of and for the 21st Century. Plus, I’ve been around great music and great musicians all my life, so you gamble on some of that rubbing off.

Any new gigs or albums in the future?

We are demoing tracks for the third DS4 album, which is taking us down some engaging and unexplored avenues. We’ve just done a track called Hip-Hopping, featuring the Glaswegian rap star Johnny Cypher. English blues meets Scottish hip hop. It’s a genre we call Caledoniana. It’s hardcore, believe me!

Special thanks to them for doing this interview & I wish them lots of luck in their music. So until then I'll catch you on The Flipside! Stay awesome & rock n roll!

  1. I like the honesty and lack of false modesty here. If you think your records are better than others, say so! And how I hate those false American accents. I came across this review because I know another David Sinclair - singer/songwriter and keyboards though. Founder member of Caravan. I've never come across anyone else with the same name in many years. That's all. Bye.
