Hey there folks, DJ Dizzy here & I had the pleasure of seeing The Lion King Musical,
Now I have to say that this was quite a show as well as decent stage masterpiece & while I was expecting some elements from the animated film they did a good job of it no less but lets get into it
For those who haven't seen the film it takes place in the Savannah jungles in Africa & it tells the story of a young lion cub, Simba who's in training by way of his royal father Mufasah who teaches him about the fields & their kingdom meanwhile his scheming brother Scar wants to take over the kingdom by any means so he makes a deal with some Hyenas to 'help' him deal with his royal older brother by tricking his nephew into going to their territory although its forbidden.
Meanwhile Simba (Now a much older lion cub) & his best girlfriend Nala are playing inthe fields of The Pridelands & come across the forbidden area where they meet up with the Hyenas wo pounce on them & vow to eat them when Mufasah comes to rescue them & then gives Simba a good speaking to only to have it become a father/son bonding moment between the two but I won't gice too much away.
The Musical,
There were some decent musical numbers which also incorporated some of the Swahilli language & some African chants within most of the songs they also featured songs that weren't featured in the film & there was also a choir who were dressed in animal costumes to really capture the mood & flow of the story
The performers would come down the aisles of the theartre & some of the toehr players would swing from the balcony depending on what time you go but it was a fun experience no less & while it was true to the story I was expecting it to be a little bit like the film version particularly the songs but it was still good none the less & the actors had done a great job in potraying their characters & I could really sense that they pue alot of rehearsing & commitment to their roles.
They also had some decent performers when it came to the songs & they also did a decent job when it came some of the their solos & there were even afew side jokes (One in particular about Omaha Steaks since thats where their show was at but I digress.)
In conclusion,
While the stage play took some elements from the film put their own spin on things it was one heck of an awesome job & I recomend both the film & the stage play to any first timers & longtime fans so overall I give it a 10 for their creativity, their improv & for the performers, so this is so stage play I highly recommend that you see for yourself though I will say that it ran a bit long which was my on;y gripe with it other than that it was still enjoyable.
