I’ve loved music my whole life, I used to preform Backstreet Boys and other pop songs with my friend in front of our 6th grade class almost everyday. My dream was to be a pro basketball player so I chased that dream for almost 10 years, once it was done I switched my focus to Music. I got a late start but I decided to go after it anyways, started making songs and then made an album. My album helped me get the attention of Bentley Records who signed me to a Distribution & Marketing Deal in 2017. Since then I’ve been making music on and off, but dived back in this past year releasing my EP called, “Sideline Stories” showcasing my new sound. Next, I have my song, “Him” dropping on 7/8/2020 and another track called, “Elephant” following that late in July or early August which will feature on an artist collaboration CD called, “Internet Friends 2”. We’ll see what’s next after that… I don’t have a lot of inspiration/influences to be honest, my plan in music is to stand out by being different and original, which I think I am. A few of my favorite artists/influences though would be: Drake, J. Cole, Logic, Mike Stud, Blackbear and I’m a fan of all the 90’s-2000’s hip-hop music & artists like: Eminem, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Kanye, T.I, Ludacris etc. I really listen to a lot more of the older stuff than new but some of my favorite music ever is 90-2000’s alternative rock and my first true love of music is The Beatles. I would say I’m in no position to giving performers advice since I still haven’t taken my lame ass onto the stage yet lol. That will change though but what I would tell people starting out is learn the Music industry, I was fortune enough to learn a lot signing with Bentley Records and them teaching me, so I learned a fair amount. Also, work on your craft and also build your fanbase. Truth be told, you really can’t do much with Music if you don’t have a following. I think my sound does that for it’s self, I really don’t sound like anyone else. I did a Spotify campaign where I was supposed to ask people who I sound like in order to reach a target audience and I asked probably 50+ people and most people struggled coming up with anyone. Also, I try to create motivational/inspirational music that’s mainly positive and intended to help people out, which I think sets myself apart because you don’t hear a lot of music like that these days, especially in Hip-Hop. |
