DJ Interviews: Allo B.

Hey there everyone, here's my interview with Allo B. who sat down with me to discuss her musical origins.

How'd you get started in music?

From a very young age, I displayed a passion for music, starting with the violin at

the age of six. By the time I was twelve, I was already composing my own songs

on the piano and writing poems. My musical journey took diverse paths, from

playing electric guitar in punk and black metal bands to performing with a

philharmonic orchestra on the violin. At the age of sixteen I took formal singing

lessons and learned pop and classical singing techniques. Drawing from my

experiences in various musical genres, I began producing my own music, weaving

together elements of my background.

Who are your inspirations or influences?

I cannot name Bands or Artists here, of course there are too many to mention. For

me its mostly lyrics I read, maybe just a word or a phrase. Sometimes it’s some

notes I hear, a beautiful piano line, a hook or maybe just a sound. I love to scroll

through new artists and listen to their music and to see them performing, trying to

understand how they write and see music. When I start to write I always have a

vision of the song, but it never turns out the way I intended it. The result is always

better than what I thought of haha.

What advice would you offer aspiring performers?

Always stay true to yourself and never give up on your dreams. Take advice, but

follow your intuition and always just do what you absolutely love!! Don’t compare

yourself to others, you’re unique and special and perfect, the way you are!

How do you set yourself apart from other bands or singers?

I’ve always been a Gothic Girl since I’m a teenager. But I also always listened to

almost every kind of music and I’m coming from classical music. Mixing dark tunes

and lyrics with classical elements, adding electronic sounds and experimenting with

different sounds and vocals, wrapped up in standard song structures is what sets

myself apart from others, I guess. But in the end I’m writing music, that I love to

listen to.

How would you say that music has inspired/made an impression on you?

Music has always been my language. It’s my happy place, my cure for pain, my

daily world to go to. It never disappoints me, it always surprises me and carries me

into my perfect space. Whether I listen or I’m writing and recording, it’s always

inspiring and impressing me in the same way. When I was a kid I could only listen

to vinyls, mostly opera or music for kids. This wasn’t my favorite, but I loved to listen

to it as often as possible. I cannot imagine a day without music.

Any new gigs or albums in the future?

Yeah!! My first full Album „Allo.B My Name“ is being released soon in autumn. The

first Single „Pretty“ is released on September 05. Some amazing collaborations are

also coming. So stay tuned, there’s some good stuff coming.

Special thanks to them for this interview & I wish her lots of luck in his music so until then I'll catch you on The Flipside! Stay frosty & rock n roll!

DJ Interviews: Silenced Echoes

Hey there folks, DJ Dizzy here & here;s my interview with the band Silenced Echoes who shared their humble musical origins.

How'd you get started in music?
From a young age I have always absolutely loved music. I remember early days, watching the likes of Queen on TV and being memorized. Much of my teenage years was spent searching through bands, feeding off of music. I grew up in the 90's so was spoiled with many great bands such as Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Stereophonics, Foo Fighters, Bush (I could list so many more). At that age, what really hooked me was the guitar and for years I wanted to get one and learn to play. Guitarists like Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Richie Sambora made the guitar the coolest thing ever. The way they played, the emotion they could achieve and how they made these lumps of wood with strings sing, it blew my mind! So at about the age of 16 I saved up for my first guitar and proceeded to reach myself to play. Other than a short stint in a college band, I didn't actually play to perform for years and years, life just kinda got in the way. But music never stopped being my passion. I am either playing, singing or listening to music literally all the time! Finally In 2020 I embarked on my first solo album and since then I've played gigs, released an EP and a handful of singles have much more planned for the future.

Who are your inspirations or influences?
From a guitar point of view, Eric Clapton was my single biggest inspiration. Vocally and from a pure song writing point of view it would be Chris Cornell. Cornell was a whole other level to anyone else. That man painted pictures with words! I draw influence from a lot of different bands, the whole grunge scene is at the heart of my taste but I explore music, I listen across multiple genres, Grunge, rock, indie, classical, metal. I look for songs that inspire meaning, that connects people, that are real.

What advice would you offer aspiring performers?
Believe in yourself, stay true to your natural sound and don't let anything hold you back. You can't half ass it and things won't happen on their own. And don't compare yourself to others, what is uniquely you is what makes you great.

How do you set yourself apart from other bands or singers?
When it comes to my music, I just focus on my sound and don't worry about what anyone else is doing. In a sense, I'm not concerned with setting myself apart, I think that comes naturally and ultimately is for everyone else to decide. I just want to write music from the soul, and have fun doing it.

How would you say that music has inspired/made an impression on you?
Music is life. No matter what mood I'm in, where I am, what I am doing, there's a soundtrack to accompany it. Every memory, every moment, every feeling can be accentuated with a song.

Any new gigs or albums in the future?
2024 has been about getting a full band line up sorted and up to speed. We've played a hand full of gigs and plan to busy the calendar up for 2025. We are also in the process of writing a new album which we aim to have released this side of Christmas.

DJ Interviews: The Boomtown Renegades

Here's my interview with a band straight out of North Dakota, They call themselves the Boomtown Renegades who shared their humble & musical beginnings with me.

How'd you get started in music?

Good Question. Started in school doing musicals. Ended up in a band doing cover versions mainly of 80’s rock songs. Got fed up of singing other peoples songs and decided to write my own stuff, got a band together with my friends and here we are.
Who are your inspirations or influences?
inspiration, if somebody heard our music and it made their day better, reaching people with music is just a fantastic thing to do. We would love to play a festival lol.  Influences. For myself love the 80’s sound. Big Queen and AC/DC fan. Couple of the band are big country fans. We like all types of music.  I recently discovered Black Veil Brides and just love their sound. Even though they have been around for a while it’s never too late to discover music.
What advice would you offer aspiring performers?

Never give up. Creation is from the soul, as long as you reach just one person you are a success.

How do you set yourself apart from other bands or singers?

I think for us it’s our eclectic mix of songs. We have hard rock, country rock and piano Ballards. We have a sound for all types of listeners.

How would you say that music has inspired/made an impression on you?

For myself music is the gift that keeps giving. I love discovering new bands. In your darkest hour music can lift you up out of it.

Any new gigs or albums in the future?

Hopefully we will have some gigs on October here in North Dakota. We just released Walking the Crooked Road so no new album for a bit. We are always writing new songs.
