DJ' Interviews: Best Not Broken

Hello one & all Its your good friend the DJ bringing you another interview with a band called Best  Not Broken who had a lot to say about their success, Here's their story

How'd you get started in music?
I believe we all got our start in Jr High or High School. I had played trumpet in school band since 4th grade but I was always fairly garbage at it. Once I picked up bass, it felt so much more natural. It's like your instrument of choice is only partially your choice. Some people are more inclined to different things. Same goes for Sports, writing, science, all that stuff!

Who are your inspirations or influences?
The first music I ever got REALLY into was AC/DC's "Who Made Who", and it wasn't until much later I found out it was the official Maximum Overdrive soundtrack! Bonkers!
The other album was Anthrax "Sound of White Noise" which is obviously their first album without Joey Belladonna, but I was so young, it was just a cassette tape I found and fell in love with.
In the mid-90s I got really into the melodic punk rock of the era (Strung Out, Lagwagon, Pennywise, Propagandhi, Rancid, Bad Religion) and learned to play as fast as possible. The other BNB guys are all over the place. We have such a broad influence base, I think it's what helps us dip in and out of so many genres. We're all from different worlds with just enough overlap to make it work.

What advice would offer aspiring performers?
How ever hard you think you need to work to reach your goals, you must be prepared to work even harder. There are always setbacks, false starts, opportunities that slip through your fingers. You just need accept it, learn from it, and keep moving forward.

Any new gigs or albums in the future?
Some choice dates!
9/15 - UnionFest 2018 (Milford, NH) - Amazing music fest with lots of different genres. Lots of Folk & bluegrass during the day, but the night brings out the rock!
9/26 - The Met (Providence, RI) w/ Fear of Missing Out - FOMO is a great group of melodic punkers. This is our 2nd or 3rd time playing with them.
9/30 - Pinz (Kingston, MA) w/ Nick Black Band - Nick Black & co. is a fantastic group of blues/rock/soul guys from Memphis who we played with once before and it was an epic combo!
10/19 - The Grape Room (Philly, PA) w/ Summer Scouts, Moonwalker - Our first time playing Philly! Presented by i99 Radio. Those guys are fabulous!

I wish them nothing but good luck in their success but until then that's going to do it for me. So stay awesome & I'll catch you on the flipside rock n roll!
