Short Bio

3rd Deck is a new Indie music project based in Abbotsford, BC. The group features four seasoned musicians from the local music scene here in the Fraser Valley: Neil Dyck (lead vocals, guitar), Miguel Gosano (guitar, vocals), Michael Fisher (bass, vocals) and Adam Eason (drums).

3rd Deck formed around May 2021 and immediately began writing and rehearsing material to include on their debut self-titled EP, released on March 25, 2022. The 5-song EP was co-produced with Soren Lonnqvist at Studio Downe Under (Abbotsford) and was mastered by Grammy/Juno nominated mastering engineer, Greg Mindorff at Suite Sound Labs (Vancouver). The songs are straight-ahead guitar + bass + drums + vocals alternative rock, drawing on influences such as Our Lady Peace, Goo Goo Dolls and Third Eye Blind, to name a few.

How'd you get started in music?

Musical Parents and older siblings. My dad played guitar and my mom played piano. There was always lots of music being played around the house, and my much older siblings bombarded their little brother (me) with the music they were into. It was a very music positive environment to grow up in.

Who are your inspirations or influences?

My earliest influences would be the Beatles 45’s my sister would play for me constantly. I could probably sing all the early Beatles hits before I was 4. And I have rolled with the punches and trends throughout the years connecting with artists as varied as John Denver to Anthrax.

What advice would you offer aspiring performers?

Never stop, just keep going, keep writing no matter how bad you think it is. Keep practicing no matter how bad you think you are, just keep moving forward one inch at a time, and you will get where you’re going even if you don’t know what the destination is.

How do you set yourselves apart from other bands or singers?

I don’t go out of my way to try and sound different or be the next thing, I just stay true to the noise in my head and do my best to get it out for people to hear, and hope that honesty translates into something people can connect with.

Any new gigs or albums in the future

We had our EP release party on March 26, sharing the stage here in Mission, BC with our good friends and local legends Random Dander. We are looking to book some more live shows this summer but our focus right now is to polish up a huge backlog of material in preparation for some more recording. We are targeting a fall 2022 release date for our follow-up EP.

Thank you!
