DJ Interviews: 50cal

Hey there everyone its the DJ coming at you with an interview with a band by the name of 50 cal
who had a lot to say on their success

How'd you get started in music?

ive always had a music around when i was young starting as a kid im 25 now but just around the house there was always classic shit playing my mom and dad were into the Beatles and old rock like jimmi hendrix and things like that my two sisters always had shit like system of a down playing but i really grew twords that hair metal motley crue shit, i really just fucked with that underground scene ,back in school i never knew how to read music so i took to drums more than anything, i was learning to read music in classes i was taking. i always liked making music more than learning about music. in the last year i started to realize i can learn and teach myself production,i already always killed it freestyling but i wanted to create real music. ive always been an artist growing up ina family of them i was painting and drawimg , i got my degree in photography and then went on to get my degree in physics but i always thought if i could just make music i wouldnt need anything else. so I was sellin drugs and doin other shit to really get the money to invest in my equipment and knowlage twords my craft.

Who are your inspirations or influences?

growing up i was influenced by motley crue, i just fell in love with that rebel life style, i was already starting to smoke and do drugs as a young kid round 12 or 13 and i just identify with them the most, my first experience in rap believe it or not was hearing the GOAT Mac Miller and from there i just dove into rap goin back to tribe and wu-tang, when wiz cam out with prince of the city i was really vibin with him and it was tgod ever since , id say a lot of my style and game came from him. my other inspirations id say would be wiz, future, playboy carti, thug, mac, kanye, i really fucked with the whole do it yourself thing you know? like mac and kanye would make their own beats and rap on em starting off and it always gave me hope of just doin it all myself, perfecting every part of music making and becoming the ultimate force lol

What advice would offer aspiring performers?

id say that you can't do this shit with the mindset of getting rich or famous even though we all want it, you gotta really have a passion and drive for  the music, you gotta make it for yourself.

How do you set yourselves apart from other bands or singers?

i feel that because of my background commin from a small town suburbs where everyone knows everyone i had to do things to set myself apart just dressing different not following trends, settin my own trends and shit like that it helped me identify myself and what im about and it comes thru in my music, im just a kid who aint had shit handed to him, growing up below the poverty line i learned to hustle from my pops, he would run 4 jobs and do shit on the side for cash, when i was goin to school getting my degree in physics I was working 80hrs a week 2 jobs and goin to school full time just non stop hustlin before i knew i wanted to put my all into my music, i just bring light to people like me , super creative kids lookin for an outlet just trappin to make a living, doin drugs to numb the pain of friends dyin left and right to drugs and violence, always dippin the police tryin to make a living and stay off the streets and create a new life for myself and provide for my future family.

Any new gigs or albums in the future?

i have an Ep im working on right now called "Product Of" should be dropping early May 2019 from my own label No Lane Records

and im lookin forward to working with new artists and producers as i grow and make a name for myself in the industry

Special thanks to them for doing this interview & I wish them nothing but luck in their careers so until then I'll catch you on the flipside! Stay awesome & rock n roll!

Doctor Knockout - Move (Official Music Video)

DJ Interviews: The PondHawks

Hello guys DJ Dizzy here once again with an interview by a hard rock band who call themselves The Pond Hawks as they had a lot to say about their careers. So I proudly present to you the Pond Hawks!

1. How did you get started in music?
I suppose we gravitated toward music as our "opiate" our "escape" from the everyday struggles of life. Listening to music mended our souls... made us feel good. We looked up to the songwriters, the singers, and musicians. The hope of someday playing and possibly even writing our own songs was the ultimate dream goal for us.
2. Who are your inspirations or influences?
The Beatles, Wings, The Monkees,  Michael Nesmith, The Everly Brothers, Jim Croce...
3. What advice would you offer aspiring performers?
Be true to yourself and your music. Try to find your own musical niche instead of following the current music trend. There is so much competition in music. You need to create a signature sound that gives you your own musical identity.
But MOST importantly: "NEVER mix beer and wine!!!" ;)
4. How do you set yourselves apart from other bands or singers?
We don't intentionally try to set ourselves apart from other bands. Our main goal from day one is to always stay true to ourselves. When you do this, your "signature sound" will blossom.
5. Any new gigs or albums in the future?
We’ve had a fun, live-gig summer so far. One of the highlights was a 2-hour concert for 8,000+ people. It was our 5th year playing this annual event.
Also, we just released a new single called “Afraid Of Love.” The song has been trending on Facebook and was picked up by several FM and Internet radio stations. Hope you dig it...

DJ Interviews: Vix 20

Hello everyone DJ Dizzy here & I sat down with a punk rocker by the name os Gary Mills of the band Vix 20 who had so much to share on their music.

How'd you get started in music?

It all started for me after I read a book called Buddy’s Song when I was a teenager, my dad had an old Spanish acoustic guitar and i soon realized that if I wanted to get a girlfriend (like buddy) I needed to play the guitar! I then heard Appetite  for destruction and around the same time met CJ and we never looked back...

Who are your inspirations or influences?

Ive always been inspired by other musicians as we learn to play we always meet better players and musicians I always wanted what they had so it made me work hard as possible and practice every hour I could, my musical influences sit somewhere between Jimmy Page, Gary Moore and the Beatles who are at an open blues jam with some punk bands.....who are listening to hip hop between songs...it’s rather hard to pin down...

What advice would offer aspiring performers?

I’ve been very lucky I’ve had a long career in music but the best thing I ever did was get a career where I could work for myself and pick it up and put it down when required, it won’t happen over night and you need to live without being a constant burden on your family and friends plan your longevity. I met a young guitar player recently and he asked my advice I said go and be a plumber then come back to it...

How do you set yourselves apart from other bands or singers?

Cj told me 25 years ago that we wouldn’t have walkmans and all our music collection would fit into a cigarette packet....listen to Vix 20 he knows stuff....

Any new gigs or albums in the future?

New single coming out over the summer and eventually the album but we aren't rushing...

Special thanks to him for this interview & I wish them all luck in their careers so until then I'll catch you on the flipside! Stay awesome & rock n roll!

DJ Interviews: The Stillsouls

Hey everyone DJ Dizzy here & I sat down with a band who call themselves the Stillsouls Enjoy!

How'd you get started in music?

Though I'm in the Stillsouls, I'm answering your questions on my own.  I started when I became obsessed with the records made by artists that I really admired, and still do.  I wanted to be able to make music like what I heard and loved.  I've always felt that if I could make a record that would make someone feel as great as I feel when I hear those records, then I've done my job.  Hopefully we've done that.

Who are your inspirations or influences?

So many -- 70's Glam (Bowie, Mott, T-Rex),  American writers -- Dylan, Petty, Springsteen, Todd Rundgren, Neil Young (I know -- he's from Canada) NYC artists -- Lou Reed, Dion, The Dolls, The Brill Building, Rascals
and of course the Beatles and the Stones.

What advice would offer aspiring performers?

Do it because you love it.  If you make a few bucks great.

How do you set yourselves apart from other bands or singers?

By doing our best work.  We believe in the power of a good song, singing in tune, and playing as good as good rock 'n' roll demands.

Any new gigs or albums in the future?

We  just wrapped up an Album "Half Drunk Preacher". We've been told the release date may not be until the end of the year. (though we have already released a single and a video for the tune "Local Honey"

special thanks to them for doing this interview & I wish them nothing but luck in their career.
So until then I'll catch you on the flipside! Stay awesome & rock n roll!

DJ Interviews: Ingrid Smith

Hello everyone its DJ Dizzy & I had the pleasure of talking with a singer who hails out of Orlando Florida  by the name of Ingrid Smith who had a lot to say about her musical beginnings.

1) How did I get started ? I had to think, what really made me going into the musical direction. I wanted to become an actress, my family did not approve, they said when you are 21, you are on your own, if you still like to become an actress, go for it. Well, I went to Language School ( I am originally from Germany) learned English, French and Spanish and worked for a bank. Then a group of musicians were looking for a singer, they had a contract to work on US Bases throughout Europe, I applied, never sang in my life, besides in school in a choir, Well, I auditioned and got the job, and traveled with the band throughout Europe for 10 years. I got married, moved to the US with my husband, opened up a jewelry business with Disney, and then it hit me again ... here I am singing again.

2) I was mainly inspired by American, French and Spanish Singers and Bands. I love all music, from Classic to Pop, I am not so crazy about country, because I cannot relate too ... my biggest inspirations are Michael Jackson and Tina Turner.

3) The advice I can give to young musicians and singers is to make sure, not to rely or become rich on an income based on your music or talent. There is luck, whoever listens to you, there is marketing, there is the special you have to have, and Yes, I know, everyone is special, but it's that certain WOW or that FEELING or the GOOSEBUMPS ....and it might have nothing to do with talent, or what you have studied and learned. So make sure, you will always have plan B, something you like, but gives you security to do something where your passion is ... it works .....

3) I think I set myself apart, by being the artist who likes to please myself, not necessarily other people, I love to create, sometimes something unusual, sometimes something old fashioned, Music is Mathematics, so I am business oriented, but not only in music, if I make money with a business so I can take care of myself and my passion, that's what sets me apart and gives me fulfillment.

4) I am working on a new album, but I mainly work on licensing my songs to commercial outlets worldwide, and I am fairly lucky with it, within a year, I got 7 songs licensed, I like to get more licensing in TV. movie and Commercials, because this is the future, if you do not perform live, streaming and downloading will be something from the past in another 2 to 3 years, and even public appearances will be replaced by virtual reality..... there will be still live performances, but there will be another trend. My future music and projects go a bit more into Transcendence and messages with a rhythm.

Special thanks to her for this interview & I wish her nothing but luck in her career. So until then I'll catch you on the flipside! Stay awesome & rock n roll!

DJ Interviews: The Zap Guns

Hello everyone Its DJ Dizzy back with another interview this time with a band who call themselves the Zap Guns

How'd you get started in music? (Vince) by listening to my father’s collection of vinyls and music cassettes. I actually started to play the piano, but soon realized it wasn’t my thing...when I finally put my hands on a guitar it suddenly clicked! (Matte) My mom and dad were both rock music lovers. I went to work with my dad a lot when I was very young and the oldies station played a lot of early 60s music, early Beatles and Beach Boys, Ronettes, Smokey Robinson, a little Elvis; and my mom loved the later Beatles and late 60s and 70s music. I didn’t really fall in love with playing until I figured out how to write my own songs, and that’s all I ever wanted to do since.

Who are your inspirations or influences? (Vince) major influences are old school rockers such as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Saxon, AC/DC, Santana, Hendrix, etc...then, when I was 13 I discovered Metallica, and everything changed! (Matte) Mine are similar, and so are Michael’s, but my early years were more focused on The Beatles and The Beach Boys. I was 12 when I heard Rancid and punk rock and I started taking music seriously, especially bass. I also wanted to write lyrics that were like my literary heroes, especially Keats. With The Zap Guns, we’re really trying to tap into the older Rock ‘n’ Roll influences and make some timeless songs, while keeping the intensity of the hard rock and punk influences.

What advice would you offer aspiring performers? (Vince) practice, be patient, have fun and practice some more. (Matte) Don’t practice too much. Play with people who have very different ideas and personalities from you so you’re constantly challenged.

How do you set yourselves apart from other bands or singers? (Vince) we kick ass, literally. (Matte) When we’re not kicking ass or reading poetry, we’re trying to carve out an area in rock that seems to be neglected right now: somewhere less heavy and more melodic than hard rock and much heavier than Indie rock.

Any new gigs or albums in the future? (Vince) of course, we’re just warming up! (Matte) We have about half of a full-length album written that I can’t wait to get to work on. It’s definitely going to have some serious hooks like the EP, but will also be heavier at times and have more stylistic variety.

special thanks to them for doing this interview & I wish them nothing but luck in their career.
So until then I'll catch you on the flipside! Stay awesome & rock n roll!
