DJ Interviews: Jaylyn Snow

Hey there everyone DJ Dizzy here, & I had the pleasure of sitting down with an artist by the name of Jaylyn Snow who had a lot to say about her musical beginnings. So here we go!

How'd you get started in music?
--
Honestly, I can't really remember. I got my first guitar when I was 6 or 7 and the only reason I can remember is really, really wanting a guitar. I didn't really do much with it other than admire it, the body of it is on the wall in my little studio even today. I picked the guitar up properly at 11 and started to learn how to play it properly. I left school and went straight to college and studied a really bad music course that didn't really teach me much. I did teach myself how to play basic drums while I was there though, so it could have been worse. In 2017 I was really bored and the guitar wasn't cutting it for me so I downloaded an Ableton trial and made my first awful tune, which can't be found anywhere now, luckily. That's pretty much it, two years down the line I'm producing some decent music and starting to work on spinning it live somewhere

Who are your inspirations or influences? -- I'm inspired a lot by my emotions, they're not the best. Mostly influenced by artists like Deadmau5, Boris Brejcha, Camelphat and other techno & house artists. I think I have my own unique style though.

What advice would offer aspiring performers? -- Network/connect with other producers and DJ's, those people are your biggest ally to begin with. Don't refuse tips from other producers/dj's, a lot of tips have helped me pick my game up. Focus on finding your style and throw any rulebooks out. Not too sure what else to say really!

Any new gigs or albums in the future? -- Gigs! That's a work in progress, but I'm hoping to have something to put on the "Tour Dates" section of my Spotify this year or at the start of next. I have a new EP dropping real soon though! No release date just yet, but I'm happy to say the EP is about 2% away from being at the mix and master stage, so we're not talking months for the drop now. A preview of one of the tunes can be found on my SoundCloud right now, it's called "Forward Evolution" - that name is likely to be changed before the official release of the full tune/EP though.

Special thanks to her for doing this interview & I wish her nothing but luck in her music. So until then I'll catch you on the flipside! Stay awesome & rock n roll!
