Hey there folks DJ Dizzy here & I had the pleasure of interviewing Jean Cabbie & The Secret Admirer Society as they had so much to say on their musical upbringing.

Jean Cabbie & The Secret Admirer Society is comprised of Jean Cabbie (Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar), Eric Cabrer (Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals), Jacob Rodriguez (Bass/Backing Vocals) and Marcos Rivera (Drums).

How'd you get started in music?

I started in music in my early teens and had my first band when I was sixteen years old. We did original music and covers. Although I started as a guitar player I ended up playing bass for the next seven years as there was always a lack of bass players at the time. I also did a lot of songwriting which helped hone my skills and keep an ear of which new sounds were around. After many years I decided to retire from playing cover music and concentrate on writing and recording original music solely.

Who are your inspirations or influences?

The initial influences were British groups like The Beatles, The Who, Queen, The Rolling Stones. There are also American influences as well such as Cheap Trick, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Aerosmith amongst others. You could say that I was pretty much influenced by everything going on in American and British music scene and always giving the song precedence over everything else.

What advice would offer aspiring performers?

Keep playing, be business savy and don’t go signing every piece of paper they put in front of you. It will  help you avoid many problems down the road. Also, it is always good to listen to new music and keep practicing. Do not get discouraged if something does not work from the get go. Good things always take their time and the payoff makes it worth it.

How do you set yourselves apart from other bands or singers?

Jean Cabbie & The Secret Admirer Society is an amalgam of the best elements rock music had offered in the past sixty years. We include the best influences we ever had in our musical careers and emphasize in writing good material which reflects all these musical influences in our repertoire.

Any new gigs or albums in the future

We are currently finishing up our new single “Possession” and sorting out the release schedule for the song during 2021. The band is promoting is current single “Paper Doll” and do intend to continue do so during this year. As for live gigs, due to the CoVid situation, are right now on hold but do expect to return to live performances as soon as possible. We are currently revising the band’s repertoire in order to include our latest singles: “Breathe”, “Even Close”, “Paper Doll” and “Possesion” along with songs from our latest cd releases “Anthem”, “Good Things” and “After Hours”.
