DJ Interviews: Overseas Love Crisis

Hey there guys DJ Dizzy here & this is my interview with a band who call themselves Overseas Love Crisis

1) My name is Charles and I play in OLC, I got started in music when I joined school programs. I got on board with band class and I loved every second. Basically from there I just found anything I could do that involved music. Band camps, jazz, marching band, musical theater orchestras. I always had a strong love of music and had my bands that I liked when I was growing up. I didn’t get into guitar until middle school and high school but that’s when I really wanted to get out and start gigging.

2) My personal influences are all over, my first two CDs were an Aerosmith greatest hits CD and AFI’s Sing the Sorrow. I love bayside, they’re my all time favorite. I like jazz trumpet and sax and I like metal. It varies day to day but I always go back to a couple. My band mates have some of the most diverse music tastes I’ve seen and I think that really helps in our songwriting and our musicality.

3) For the aspiring performer I would say you need to go see a lot of shows. Go see shows you wouldn’t normally see, go see musicals, go see punk shows and acoustic coffee house stuff. I try and go to every concert I can so I can watch my musical peers and see what they can do, what they bring to the table as far as the stage show. I hate being up in the middle sometimes it gets a little awkward! But just get out and see shows. Go to concerts. Interact with bands.

4) We try and be unique. We play punk rock but we play a lot of different covers when we’ve been playing these bars and venues for years. We play horns as well. I play trumpet and I like to feature it when I can. I think it’s fun to watch someone’s eyes light up when they realize there’s a trumpet up on stage. We play what we know and we come from so many different backgrounds as far as what we like and what we expected OLC to be. It’s been fun to see us grow in a different way than our peers.

5) OLC has an album coming out in 2021 called Sunsets. It’s going to be the second album in our series of concept albums telling a story. Our first single Midwest State of Mind is out now everywhere that you stream music. We’re waiting for a time that we can come back and rock a stage again. We’ve been sidelined a lot of the year just like everyone else has been.

Let me know what links Or anything else you would like to share, we would really like to get the Spotify link out for our new single advertised. I can send if you think it’ll work. we also have pics and logos if you need. Thanks for interviewing us and I appreciate you reaching out!

Special thanks to them for this interview & I wish them lots of luck in their music so until then I'll catch you on The Flipside! So until then stay awesome & rock n roll!

DJ Interviews: Piqued Jacks

Hey there guys DJ Dizzy here & this is my interview with Picqued Jacks, Enjoy

How'd you get started in music?

Right about when we found out that all our other hobbies we liked as kids were kinda against the law.

Who are your inspirations or influences?
Gosh, they are so many! We take inspiration from a whole lot of artists. Not the following, though: Kiss, AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Bruce Springsteen, Ligabue.

What advice would offer aspiring performers?

Gearing up for a show can be an issue: learn the lighter instrument. In all seriousness though, try to be yourself as much as you can, and be aware that this is no easy life – you’ll need to go through sacrifice and sadness, but also incommensurable joy.

How do you set yourselves apart from other bands or singers?
We’re the only ones out there that still want to go out and tear the roof off knowing that we’re going to put it back together afterwards, ‘cause we don’t have enough money to afford destroying it for real.

Any new gigs or albums in the future
Sure thing, both! Our new album “Synchronizer” is dropping this year (check out the latest singles “Every Day Special” and “Golden Mine” on Spotify/Apple Music) and as soon as we can go back to playing live, we already have stuff booked in Los Angeles, Toronto, London and Bucharest. We’re ready!

Special thanks to them for this interview & lots of luck in their music, so until then I'll catch you on The Flipside! Stay awesome & rock n roll!

DJ interviews: Empress Band

Hey guys DJ Dizzy here, & here's my interview with a band from Sweeden who're called Empress enjoy!

How'd you get started in music?

The band Empresses was first started by Emma,Catha & Ida back in 2018 with two other members. They won a bandcompetition same year and a new beginning was started. Unfortually 2 members dropped the band for start a journey with other bands.Putte and Emma knew eachother since before so in 2019 Putte took place as Lead Guitar and a new bassplayer joined the band to. The bassplayer had to quit due to personal issue's but Putte got a mail from Adam who he knew in earlier days that he wanted to be the bassplayer for us and finally Empresses is complete. Putte(Patrik) is the songwriter in the band and we formed our uniq sound together with an id of strong women dominating of the band. Our storys lies way back when Emperors and Empresses ruled the world and the struggle you feel when you have pressure as an heir to the throne.

Who are your inspirations or influences?

In music our influences are Thundermother, Dorothy, Halestorm,Guns N Roses, Killing Joke, Within Temptation. Inspiration to the lyrics we take from everything we experience and reads about in the world and forms it like it was 2000 years ago

What advice would offer aspiring performers?

Never give up,never surrender. believe in what you can but also see your limits. You dont always have to be the best guitarist to play the guitar in the best way.

How do you set yourselves apart from other bands or singers?

Empresses is uniq with a female-dominated band. A more melodic rockband with strong female voices with a nice golden stage-outfit like Empresses should wear if they were rockstars
Any new gigs or albums in the future

DJ Interviews: Psy Surf

Hey there guys DJ Dizzy here & this is my interview with Psy Surf enjoy!

How'd you get started in music?

I started in 2010 doing remixes of brazilian songs from the 60’s and 70’s. I did not intend to make money. it was just for fun. But I started having problems with copyrights on Soundcloud. So, since 2018 i’m making my own music.

Who are your inspirations or influences?

Great brazilian musicians like Jorge Ben, Gilberto Gil and DJ Patife. Besides that, i love a brazilian rhythm called Guitarrada (an instrumental kind of lambada, played with guitars). And i also love the pop bands from the 60’s, like Beatles and Beach Boys.

What advice would offer aspiring performers?

As Bukowski said, find what you love and let it kill you.

How do you set yourselves apart from other bands or singers?

I don’t belong to any music genre. You may not like my song, but you can’t deny it’s unique.

Any new gigs or albums in the future?

I’m working on a new song, unlike anything i've ever done. Will be released soon!

Special thanks to them for doing this interview, & until then I'll catch you on The Flipside! Stay awesome & rock n roll!
